Capital stroke NCDEX Update : SUGAR 1 August 2014

The government has increased import duty on raw sugar to 40% from 15%. Subsidies of Rs. 3300/tn on raw sugar export has been extended till September. Ethanol blending with petrol in increased to 10% from 5%. Also, the repayment of interest free loan on excise duty has been increased to 5 years instead of 3 years.
Prices gained last month as the government announced a host of incentives to protect the domestic industry and forecast of below normal rains.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugarcane sowing as on 24th July, 2014 stands at 4.64 mn ha as against 5.03 mn ha last year.

Cotton complex traded on a bearish note on Thursday hitting fresh contract lows on revival of monsoon coupled pickup in sowing activities. Concerns over global demand and record high output have also pressurized prices. NCDEX Kapas settled 1.22% lower. MCX October Cotton recovered from lower levels on a weak Rupee and settled marginally higher 0.23%. Cotton Association of India has revised its 2013- 14 output to 395 lakh bales.
The CCEA has increased MSP for cotton by Rs. 50 to Rs.3,750 for medium staple variety and to Rs.4,050 for long staple variety.

Exports of Malaysian palm oil products for July 1-15 rose 14.2 percent to 673,463 tonnes from 589,748 tonnes during June 1-15.

Crude palm oil prices in spot market dropped by 0.40 and settled at 539.00 rupees.
